Dear Diary,
Why do bad things happen to good people? The Bible says, “There is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Romans 3:12). Everything that  happens to us is by God’s grace. Perhaps we should ask, “Why do good things happen to bad people? It is only by the mercy of God. God is in all things that happens to us and nothing touches our lives but that it is God speaking to us. The reason that bad things happen to good people is because  we live in a sin cursed world; a once perfect world destroyed by sin. The earth itself groans awaiting the day it will be freed from the curse. (Romans 8:22). So why should it be any different for us? Sometimes when tragedy strikes people say, “Why did this happen to me?” But are we any different than the person standing next to us? We must realize that all is of God and all is of grace. Amy Carmichael wrote, “We all live in glass houses. Not one of us can throw stones.” No one is better than the next person “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Ephesians 3:23). Let us praise God for the good we have received, as well as the bad, for He allowed it for our spiritual growth and sanctification. I Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Thought for Today: Praise God for the good as well as the bad, for all is of God.
