Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation we hate. In the beginning we felt certain that God call us there, but then doubt begins to creep in because we are so unhappy and things just aren’t working out the way we expected them to. I don’t know the answer, but I do know that God engineers our circumstances and if God called us there that is where we are to stay no matter how hard the situation or circumstance may seem. Unfortunately, I’m the type of person that tries to bale out of every situation I don’t like, but if God put us there He wants us to stay there and press forward. We always want the mountain top experience and never the valley. But it is the valleys of life that reveal our true character and proves God’s faithfulness. Oswald Chambers said, “The moments on the mountain tops are rare moments, and they are meant for something in God’s purpose…The mount is not meant to teach us anything, it is meant to make us something…We are built for the valley, for the ordinary stuff we are in, and that is where we have to prove our mettle” (My Utmost for His Highest P. 275).
Thought for Today:
May we descend into the valley only to rise above and come out able to lift up others.
