If you are not being persecuted in some way or another, for Christ, you are not walking close enough to the Savior. The world is offended in Jesus Christ and if you are following in His footsteps the world will also be offended in you. Matthew 5:11-12 tells us “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake, Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven…” With His nail pierced hands Jesus reaches down and hands you your cross. You are to pick it up and carry it for Him. If you suffer reproach and persecution for Christ’s sake, you can “rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partaker’s of Christ’s sufferings. For if we suffer with him, we shall also reign with him” (Matthew 5:12).
Thought for Today: The way of the cross leads to the cross. Pick up your cross and follow Him.
