I’ve been reading Hudson Taylor. He was talking about John 4 where Jesus talked to the Samaritan woman at the well. This is what Hudson wrote: “Let us not, however change the Saviours words. Note carefully He does not say, Whosoever has drunk, but drinketh. He speaks not of one drought, but of the continuous habit of the soul.” In John 4 verse 10 Jesus is talking about salvation – the living water. “If thou knowest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.” But in John 4 verse 14 Jesus is talking about a continual filling of the Holy Spirit. “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” We drank once for salvation, and we drink daily for a new refreshing of the Living Water to quench our thirst.
Thought for Today: Come to the well of Living Water and drink freely.
