Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, three woman were walking down the winding path to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus. As they walked they said one to another, “Who shall roll away the stone” (Mark 6:13). In our lives we shall have many stones to roll away. Most will be too large for us to even budge, let alone roll away. But “the angel of the LORD descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow” (Matthew 28:2-3). Many stones in our way are spiritual, and Satan can cast some large ones. We all have stones which prevent us from reaching out in faith to Jesus. But just like these women, we must not let the stone stop us. When our faith is weak and a stone bars our way, we need to ask the Lord to remove it. Who shall roll the stone away? Jesus, himself, is the answer.
Thought for Today: “We shall see the angel of the Lord sitting upon many stones” (Amy Carmichael).
