I see life as a series of doors. There is a door behind which we have walked through, and a door before which we have yet to enter. Each door is locked and Jesus holds the key. Once the door behind us is closed we can never enter it again; but the door which lies before us is new, never entered before. Revelations 3:7 says, “These things said he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth, and shutteth, and no man openeth.” Behind each door awaits a new beginning, new grace, new love. “It would be terrible to come out as one went in, no richer for all the love that has been poured out on us” (Amy Carmichael). Jesus says, “I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in…” (Revelations 3:20). Jesus holds the key to eternal life. We must allow Him to unlock the door to our heart and come in. Then, one day, we shall pass through that last door. “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven” (Revelations 4:1). May we walk through this last door with joy.
Thought for Today: “For each one of us, today will tomorrow be that part of eternity which forever lies behind us” (Amy Carmichael).
