Heaven help us if we turn back. Jesus said, “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62). Once God has sent us forth we must never turn back. “The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.” (Psalm 78:9). God would have given them the victory had they just went forward. The priest bearing the ark of the covenant went forth as God commanded them to pass over the river Jordan. When they got to the river, as the feet of the priest were dipped into the brim of the water, the water parted. “And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan…” (Joshua 3:17). May we never turn back, but step out in faith, going forth in trust, believing. And as we go forth God will be our strength, our helper, our deliverer, our victor.
Thought for Today: Wherever God sends us we must go forth carrying the banner for victory.
