Known to No One, But Known to Thee

Dear Diary,

Why do you do what you do?  God blesses changing diapers as much as He blesses preaching, if it is done with the right attitude and right spirit.  It is your heart that will be judged, not what you do.  You can preach, but if it is for your own “spirituality” it will not be rewarded in heaven.  You have already received your reward.  You can sing in the choir, but if it is for vain glory, you have already received your reward.  It is your heart and your motives that will be judged, and if you have done anything for the favor of men you have already received your reward.  Jesus said, “Take heed that ye do not your alms (righteous acts) before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:1).  You have already received your reward here on earth by the praise of men.  We need to be content with working as unto the Lord, and Him only. “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.” (Ephesians 6:6).  Known to no one, but known to Thee.

Thought for Today: Lord, help us be content with being unknown, unnoticed, unheard of; known to no one, but known to Thee.
