Why do you do something? God judges our heart, not our actions. So many Christians never get this straight, and when they stand before God at the Judgment Seat of Christ they will lose all their rewards because they did things for the wrong reasons. “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s works abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” (I Corinthians 3:12-15). What are you building? Are you building gold, silver and precious stones, or are you stockpiling wood, hay and stubble? I think so many of us, me included, are building mounds and mounds of wood, hay and stubble which shall be burned up by the fire. I hope somewhere is all that mess there shall be found something of worth: gold, silver and precious stones.
Thought for Today: Lord, help us build the right things, something of worth, something that will last.
