David said, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” (Psalm 37:25). This was true for my father, Mark Houseman. He was born in Russia in 1908. In 1914, he and his family were exiled to Siberia and endured all the horrors of war. Tragedy continued for my father and during the Russian Revolution of 1917 he was orphaned at the age of 13. As a young boy he roamed the streets of Russia with no one to care for him. Everywhere around him children were dying in the streets from starvation; and yet, he found food enough to survive. God led him to the right homes where people would give him bread. (Under the Red Star, Mark Houseman). Thank you God for your wondrous provision. I’ve never been starving. I’ve always had food to eat, clothes to wear, and shelter over my head. God has never left me nor forsaken me. God has always provided “…exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” (Ephesians 3:20). What a wonderful and merciful God.
Thought for Today: “The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.” (Psalm 37:18)
