Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” So, what is the kingdom of God that we are to seek? C.I. Scofield notes says, 1.) “The kingdom of God is universal, including all moral intelligences willingly subject to the will of God. 2.) The kingdom of God is entered only by the new birth…” (p.1003). “…Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3). Again, Scofield says, 3.)”The kingdom of God comes not from outward show, but is chiefly that which is inward and spiritual” (p.1003). Aha! There is the answer. The kingdom of God is “inward and spiritual”. We are to knit our spirit into a closer bond with Jesus Christ. We are to become “kindred spirits”, if you will. I in Him and He in me; not just for an hour as you have your devotions, or for the time you sit in church, but every waking moment. We are to seek God in all our inward and outward deeds. We are to seek God first and foremost.
Thought for Today: “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 14:17).
