I prayed earnestly about something and I truly expected God to do a miracle. When He didn’t, I was devastated. I had to pray for God to give me peace over the entire matter. This is a constant struggle for me. I must learn to trust God and welcome His will. Unfortunately, this lesson is continually having to be repeated. I guess I’m a slow learner. Then I read Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest, (p.157). He said, “When what we wanted to happen does not, we are to take a deep breath spiritually. It doesn’t matter. God is still glorifying Himself.” What words of wisdom. Amy Carmichael wrote, “If when an answer I did not expect comes to a prayer which I believed I truly meant, I shrink back from it; if the burden my Lord asks me to bear be not the burden of my heart’s choice, and I fret inwardly and do not welcome His will, Then I know nothing of Calvary love.” (If, p.69). Lord, help me learn this lesson.
Thought for Today: Welcome God’s will, whatever it may be.
