There is just so much evil that we can endure in one day. Matthew 6:34 says, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” The day is full of evil, the world is full of evil, and we can only endure a day full at a time. Jesus told his disciples, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye can not bear them now.” (John 16:12). God knows just how much evil to allow us to endure for one day. If we knew the evil of tomorrow we could not bear it and would fall into despair. We are not to worry about what a day will bring. They are all in God’s hands and under His sovereign control. “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15).
Thought for Today: “Day by day, and with each passing moment, strength I find to meet my trials here; Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment. I’ve no cause to worry or for fear. He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure. Give unto each day what He deems best, Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure, Mingling toil with peace and rest. (Carolina Sandell 1832-1903).
