“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners; nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” (Psalm 1:1). Scripture says we are to be separate from the world in three areas: philosophy, lifestyle, attitude.
- Philosophy – Be not deceived by false doctrine. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:8).
- Lifestyle – Don’t act like or look like the world. (In scripture the word conversation means lifestyle.) “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.” (Philippians 1:27).
- Attitude – We sin by our motives and attitude. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:…” (Philippians 2:5). “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” (Philippians 2:3). Thought for Today: Don’t act like, look like, or smell like the world. Let your motives be pure and your attitude holy.
