The Two Kingdoms

Dear Diary,

Scripture mentions two Kingdoms. The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. “…Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness…” (Matthew 6:33). “…Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:2). According to C. I. Scofield notes (p.1003) the kingdom of God is Different from the kingdom of heaven in five respects.

1.) The kingdom of God is universal. (Luke 13:29).

The kingdom of heaven is Messianic, the earthly rule of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 6:10).

2.) The kingdom of God is entered only by the new Birth. (John 3:3).

The kingdom of heaven is profession – real or false. (Matthew 13:3).

3.) The kingdom of God is perfect as God is perfect. (Matthew 5:48).

The kingdom of heaven has tares. (Matthew 13:25).

4.) The kingdom of God is inward and spiritual. (Romans 14:17).

The kingdom of heaven is on earth. (Luke 1:31).

5.) The kingdom of God is heaven, and only the saved may enter. (I Cor.15:24).

The kingdom of heaven is on earth, created and owned by God, but flawed by the fall.

The kingdom of heaven becomes one with the kingdom of God once Jesus Christ returns to earth and sets up His earthly kingdom during the 1000 year reign of Christ sitting on the throne of David during the millennium.

Thought for Today: “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15).
