Never will a change come from other people when we think we have been wronged. It must come from us. If we’ve been hurt, the healing comes from God, never from the person who hurt us. Human nature won’t allow it. We are all selfish sinners. All change, forgiveness, and love must come from within. We are the one that must change; we are the one that must forgive; we are the one that must reach out in love. And this in itself is not in us either, it is of God. “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but Until seventy times seven.” (Matthew 18:21-22). It is through God we forgive, through God we love, through God we change. If we wait on the other person to change and make right the hurt they have done to us, it most likely will never happen. But once we change and give to God the wrong that has been done unto us, it really doesn’t matter anymore.
Thought for Today: Change begins with us.
