Colossians 3:23 tells us, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” This reminds me of the title of Oswald Chambers’ Devotional called, My Utmost for His Highest. We are to give God our utmost. Few people obtain such excellence. We are too busy being caught up in our own affairs. “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” (Mark 4:19). If we are in Christ we are to serve Him; but, He wants us to serve Him willingly with our whole heart, because we love Him, and not out of duty. Ephesians 6:6 tells us we are to serve Him, “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;” We are to “…obey in all things…in singleness of heart, fearing God.” (Colossians 3:22). If we do this God will reward us. “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance, for ye serve the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24).
Thought for Today: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Matthew 22:37).
