Cracked Pots

Dear Diary,

A cracked pot will not hold water.  The water will either run out or seep out slowly, but in time it will lose all the water that was put in it.  II Corinthians 4:7 says, “…we have this treasure in earthen vessels…” but we are leaky vessels made of clay.  “…I also am formed out of the clay.” (Job 33:6).  In other words, we are all cracked pots.  All of us live a clay pot life. The Holy Spirit fills us, but we seep out, so once again we need filled.  “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” (II Corinthians 4:7).  God’s power is in the treasure, not in the clay pot.  The treasure is God working through us and in us.  “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13).  We are all just cracked pots with God’s treasure in us; yet, we seep and need refills from time to time.  Only by the grace of God are any of us filled.

Thought for Today:  We are cracked pots, earthen vessels, having no power of our own. But God placed His treasure in us, so His power might be known.
